Education and Training Action Group
The Education and Training Action Group is made up of local partners in education, including schools and colleges, the local education authority, training providers, cultural enrichment organisations and representatives from the voluntary and community sector.
Overall objective
'To promote opportunities for lifelong learning to improve the prospects and enrich the lives of all local people'
Members work together to improve examination and test results, basic skills and qualifications for work. We have targets to improve levels for 11, 14 and 16 year olds over the next few years and support projects that enable education to have an impact on local communities.
The group meets regularly to discuss education strategy for the District of Bolsover, exchange information and examine educational projects supported by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund. The group links with Local Learning Partnerships in the rest of Derbyshire and welcomes organisations and individuals who have a strong interest in education in the area.
Community Strategy aims and objectives
Quality of life could be improved by:
* More & better adult education opportunities & easier access to them
* More facilities for young people
* Better facilities & equipment, particularly in schools
* More out of school clubs, homework clubs & holiday play schemes
* Increasing the number of local people with qualifications
* Reducing truancy & absence from school
* Promote the role of culture in lifelong learning
The Bolsover Local Strategic Partnership is working together, particularly with the Learning Skills Council, to ensure that people in the area have access to learning and development opportunities whatever their age.
