13 Oct 2009 - Bolsover Pupils Take Part in National Study
11 Bolsover district schools have been selected to take part in the latest Tellus survey
as part of a national study into the views and experiences of children and young people on their life, their school and their local area.
The six-week poll is being run by the National Foundation for Educational Research on behalf of the Government and is targeted at the full range of county primary, secondary and special school students in Years 6, 8 and 10, ranging in age from 10 15 years.
The schools have been selected to take account of their different types and sizes and other social and economic factors, with the authority adding two questions to the survey. They focus on whether smaller classrooms, fewer bullies, more help from family and friends or somewhere quiet at home would help students do better in school, and how much schools help pupils to meet people from different religions and faiths, countries, disabilities or aged over 60.
The last survey in 2007 involved 1,300 Derbyshire pupils, with feedback used to help develop services for young people as part of the Every Child Matters agenda. Results from this one are expected by February.
