16 Oct 2009 - New Bolsover school net first place in fishing comp
New Bolsover Primary School has been reeling in the competition and have come out as 2009 champions in the Bolsover District Council School Fishing Competition.
Three-days of intense competition - involving teams of 4 pupils aged between 8 and 11 and 1 teacher - saw a whopping 40lb 7oz of fish caught.
After receiving expert tuition, tips and techniques from the Councils Angling Coaches to get them underway, the youngsters soon picked up the rod and started to land the fish. The winning school New Bolsover Primary caught a sizeable 18lb 1oz, the winning teacher, Dave Booker from New Bolsover Primary School caught 17lb 8oz and the individual prize was won by Oliver Lycett from Brockley Primary School who caught 8lb 12oz.
