15 Jun 2005 - Partnership working secures safety advice for our seniors!
The Older Peoples Forum working in partnership with the Bolsover Community Safety Partnership, Derbyshire County Council, Voluntary Action Bolsover and the Bolsover Local Strategic Partnership put on a successful Senior Safety Day on Thursday 2nd June at Bolsover School, Bolsover.
The event was open to anyone over the age of 55 who wanted to find out more about issues such as distraction burglary and ensuring safety in the home. The day was very well attended with over 150 people visiting exhibitions, listening to guest speaker presentations about community safety issues and enjoying songs from the wartime era.
Wendy Rossier, Chair of the Older Peoples Forum for Bolsover District, commented What a wonderful day it was, all the speakers were very good and a great time was had by all. Thank you to everyone who provided displays and information on a very important subject for older people".
Cllr Murray-Carr, Bolsover District Councils Cabinet Member for Community Safety and the compere for the day, said The event was an excellent example of partnerships working together to get the message over to a very receptive audience.
This approach enables all the agencies to meet up with a wider audience and we intend to roll out events of this type around the District on a trial basis with the intention of targeting broader areas. I would stress my thanks to all the agencies that supported this excellent event.
