The Youth Festival, named ‘Bolsover Big 1!’ by Bolsover District Youth Forum members has given young people from across the district the opportunity to have their say on services and issues that affect them.
Across the three venues, there were a series of fun challenges set to engage the young people on certain themes such as community safety, the environment and health and equalities Members of the Bolsover Local Strategic Partnership manned a stand and thiswas particularly busy as young people crowded around to enter the ‘where I live’ competition’, where entrants wrote a few paragraphs about issues in their area and hoped to win a prize. Engaging young people is a key area for the Partnership and this event has proved young people can have their say in a fun environment and what they do say is listened to.
Competition winner Benjamin Morgan from Pinxton received a HMV voucher and the chance to appear in the Partners newsletter. Ben was thrilled with his prize and said ‘I was surprised to win and get a voucher as well’. Ben piece described life in his area and he focussed on the issues he felt were important.
