14 Mar 2006 - Clowne Bizzfizz coach has been named Business Adviser of the Year in an awards ceremony held by the Institute of Business Advisers.
Paul Davies is a coach for Bizfizz an advice programme focusing on start-ups, micro and small enterprises in disadvantaged areas and was honoured for 'his exceptional approach to community-focused business support'. 50% of the Clowne Bizzfizz scheme is funded through an NRF allocation from Bolsover LSP.
An awards spokesman said: "His inspiring ability to empathise with clients and tailor his advice to suit their individual needs has earned him a reputation as a dedicated, pragmatic and motivating business adviser."
Paul said: "Since July 2004, more than one hundred clients have come to me for start-up advice and I have helped them to decide whether to take their idea further.
"It is important for the adviser to recognise that every business is unique, and the key to working effectively is to be flexible in the type of advice and support you give.
"While it is common to tackle planning, marketing, finance and employment issues, I have also helped my clients negotiate terms with their landlords, delivered coaching on tricky family situations, and even cleared a storeroom to give the builders access!
"Detailed and relevant advice is a valuable asset to the small business and it is important that every entrepreneur is able to receive appropriate advice from experienced advisers."
Chris Betson, chairman of the IBA said "These are the first IBA Adviser of the Year Awards and we have been very impressed with the high calibre of entrants."
The awards ceremony was held at the Bosworth Hall Hotel, Warwickshire.
Paul Davies and Clowne Bizzfizz are now mentioned on the national bizzfizz website.
