11 Apr 2006 - Youngsters to help launch vision
The next Bolsover Sustainable Community Strategy will be launched at Van Dyk Hotel, Worksop Road, Clowne, on April 25.
The strategy has been compiled following months of consultation, via questionnaires, interviews and meetings, and presents how improvements can be made based on key strategic aims relating to community safety, housing, employment, transport, education and health.
It has been drawn up by a partnership of local organisations, including Bolsover District Council and Derbyshire County Council, education and employment organisations, the emergency services and health services and the Community Empowerment Network for Bolsover District.
The strategy is a vision for the future and thats why Bolsover Local Strategic Partnership wants the help of one girl and one boy under the age of 16 to express their experiences of living in the district and their hopes for the future. Their work will be exhibited at the launch.
Bolsover LSP is looking for about 100 words and/or a visual and the deadline for entries is set for April 19.
The winners will need to be available for the launch on April 25, where they will be taking part in photoshoots, explaining their work and talking about what life is like for them in the district.
The two youngsters chosen will each win a pass entitling them and seven of their friends to four sessions at the Pleasley Vale Outdoor Activity Centre, which offers a range of adventure and team-building activities including canoeing, kayaking, orienteering, abseiling, mountain biking, forest skills and archery.
Members of the public are invited to the launch of the strategy, which takes place from 10am at Van Dyk Hotel, Worksop Road, Clowne, on April 25th.
There will be a series of presentations, followed by a question and answer session, and then a buffet lunch at 12.30pm.
Transport to the launch event is available for those who would otherwise be unable to attend. Please call 01246 241730.
