Launch of Bolsovers Sustainable Community Strategy
Together we make a difference
An important strategy for the District was launched at an event at Van Dyks in Clowne yesterday.
The Bolsover Local Strategic Partnerships Sustainable Community Strategy is a shared vision for the future and has been developed through close partnership working and consultation over the past eight months. The Strategy highlights the issues that need to be addressed in order to improve the quality of life in the district. Detailed actions demonstrate how these issues will be tackled.
The main priority areas identified are:
- Health & well-being
- Employment and enterprise
- Housing and the environment
- Accessible transport
- Community safety
- Education
A number of cross-cutting themes which affect all the priority areas have also been identified
- Community involvement
- Culture
- Quality of the environment
Over 600 invitations to the event were sent to a wide range of organisations representing the interests of the local community. The theme was together we make a difference and delegates helped to prioritise the actions in the plan and agree priorities to be addressed first.
The conference was addressed by four key note speakers: Mandy Chambers, Chair of the Bolsover LSP, Cllr Eion Watts, Leader of Bolsover District Council and Vice Chair of the LSP, Tina Wilkinson, Chair of the Community Empowerment Network and Jane Thomas, the consultant that had undertaken the review.
Speakers discussed the widespread consultation that has occurred during the review, including meaningful consultation with local people. The discussions focused on celebrating the Partnerships successes and on implementing the actions set out within the Strategy.
The event was also a major networking event for people and groups to meet each other, share ideas and experiences as well as learn about the work of all our partners.
All in all, a great success!
The Strategy will be distributed widely and will be available in public venues throughout the District and on this website www.bolsoverpartnership.org.uk
