Living With Teenagers Project
Parents and carers of teenagers across Bolsover district can now benefit from courses to help and support them in their role
.
The Living with Teenagers course comprises of an 8 week programme enabling parents/carers to explore a wide range of issues related to parenting. These include sessions on building self-esteem, good enough parenting, listening, discipline and boundary setting, drugs awareness and sex and relationships.
The course emphasizes the role of parents/carers as being the expert on their own teenager and seeks to offer support to work through problems in conjunction with both facilitators and other parents/carers on the course.
The project has contributed to the wider Community Safety and Youth Offending Strategies by targeting the parents most in need of support. Using a process of multi-agency referral and a partnership approach, key agencies in health, education and social and voluntary services have been incorporated.
