Neighbourhood renewal monies provided by Bolsover Local Strategic Partnership has helped to develop Chesterfield College's innovative project aimed at helping young people in the Bolsover district get back into employment, education or training.
The Support 4 U project identifies 16-18 year olds in the area who have dropped out of education or training, and acts as a central point-of-contact, offering information and guidance on the education, training or employment opportunities available to them.

"Training providers give us early notification of leavers, Support 4 U responds quickly, contacting the leavers by letter and telephone, and arranging one to one meetings to establish the reasons for them leaving. Following the assessment process, Support 4 U works with the young person, alongside Connexions and other training providers, to establish a positive outcome. The success of the project depends on the seamless transfer of information, and partnership working."
Support 4 U commenced in September last year, and has already reduced the Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) figure locally by nearly 4% from 13.3% to 9.8%.

The project has enabled young people to access employment opportunities and has raised self-esteem and confidence. In fact, the scheme has been so successful that a new post will be set up in Chesterfield to mirror Debbie's work in Clowne!
The Support 4 U project is currently in the process of being commissioned so the good work can continue for another year at the Clowne Campus.
