Public, private, community and voluntary sector organisations all have a part to play in improving quality of life. The more we can all work together, with local people, the more we can achieve individually and collectively.
The best way to maximise what we have is to avoid duplication and create a continued impact on the important issues for Bolsover District.
The Partnership aims to bring together all the relevant partners that will deliver shared priorities together. This will enable greater clarity as to who is doing what, when and how you can get involved.
What should Local Strategic Partnerships do?
There are some fundamental issues that a Local Strategic Partnership should do:
1. Develop a variety of means to work with and consult local people
2. Build common purpose and shared commitment
3. Develop and publicise common aims and priorities
4. Value the contribution of all partners, avoiding domination by particular members or organisations
5. Share local information and good practice
6. Identify, encourage and support effective local initiatives
7. Develop a common performance management system
8. Provide a forum for debate, discussion and common decision-making
One of the key issues that we have to address in the district is neighbourhood renewal. This is about improving the quality of life for people who live in communities classified as deprived (due to their crime, health and economic rates).
Bolsover Local Strategic Partnership has created a Community Strategy
and is the process of reviewing and creating the next Strategy. This over-arching document is necessary to identify, prioritise and review the work that needs to take place to create a better district.
The Partnership also looks closely at Neighbourhood Renewal. The Neighbourhood Renewal Programme is vital to delivering a prosperous district. It focuses on a number of priority neighbourhoods and targets resources to address the needs of the people within them. Engaging with local communities has been a key success factor to identifying and tackling problems at a local level.
