What is a Community Strategy?
LSP's and Community Strategies were introduced with the Local Government Act 2000. Community Strategies aim to improve the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of local areas thereby, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development.

They establish a common vision among the LSP Partners for the local area.
The current Sustainable Community Strategy
for Bolsover district has been developed in partnership with local communities and key public, private, voluntary and community organisations. Sustainable
Community Strategies have a stronger focus on balancing the needs of the local economy together with environmental and social issues.
In Bolsover district, the Council works with the Bolsover Local Strategic Partnership to produce and implement Bolsover District's Community Strategy. This is a working document and acts as the main way by which the LSP achieves changes in outcomes.
The intention of the Community Strategy is to focus on the key themes where there is a clear need to bring together different sections of the community public, private and voluntary sector organisations, community groups and local people to work together to deliver improved services and quality of life in local areas. This shared commitment is necessary to work towards the long-term vision and to deal with the key challenges that face us.
Our Community Strategy is comprised of five main themes:
- Improved Health
- Greater Prosperity
- Reduced Crime
- Lifelong Learning
- A Healthy Environment
Within these themes, priorities for action have been identified which partners are committed to achieve.
To monitor whether partners, collectively, are making good progress in delivering our vision, the Bolsover LSP Board
receives regular progress reports on the national neighbourhood renewal floor targets and local key strategic targets.
Following the AGM on 5th April, the Community Strategy has been reviewed. The revised document can be downloaded here

Review 2007/08
The Partnership has completed a review of the work done during 2007/08 through the thematic Action Groups, and looked at what has been done well and also those areas where we could have performed a little better..
Part of this review highlighted the priorities for the next three years, taking into account the changes that are happening especially with regard to the Local Area
Agreement and the introduction of Working Neighbourhood Funding.
A document has been produced which is downloadable here . Hard copies of the document will also be available shortly from each of the Council's Contact Centres or by contacting the Partnership Office.
